Harold and Helen Juergens opened a used furniture store in downtown Huntington and by 1950, they were selling paint, wallpaper, and Venetian blinds. Harold was known as "The Color Blind Man", as he sold blinds in a variety of colors, which was a new trend of the time. When their son George joined the business, they expanded into hardware and moved locations several times, even operating two locations in town for a while. In the 1990’s, after Dan, George's son, joined the business, they moved the store to its current location, north of town. In 2015, Herald and Helen’s great-grandson, Brandon Juergens, joined the family business. As one of the oldest family-owned retailers in town, the Juergens Family looks forward to continuing to find new ways to serve the Huntington Community.
