Tips & Tricks
Having a water feature in your garden can provide a cool and relaxing spot to spend time — and also make a beautiful centerpiece to your backyard. Whether you are planning to install a pond or a fountain in your garden space, these are both simple DIY projects that will provide long-term enjoyment for years to come. Ponds and fountains come in many different kinds, all with their own set of instructions and specifications depending on what you want for your backyard.
Bird lovers should know that a way to a bird’s heart is truly through its stomach. By understanding their preferred foods, you can easily attract them into your yard to enjoy their company. Different foods will attract different birds, so having a wide selection of a bird food buffet can attract a wide variety of species into your backyard.
Harold and Helen Juergens opened a used furniture store in downtown Huntington and by 1950, they were selling paint, wallpaper, and Venetian blinds. Harold was known as "The Color Blind Man", as he sold blinds in a variety of colors, which was a new trend of the time. When their son George joined the business, they expanded into hardware and moved locations several times, even operating two locations in town for a while. In the 1990’s, after Dan, George's son, joined the business, they moved the store to its current location, north of town. In 2015, Herald and Helen’s great-grandson, Brandon Juergens, joined the family business. As one of the oldest family-owned retailers in town, the Juergens Family looks forward to continuing to find new ways to serve the Huntington Community.
